The timing was perfect.  Our Canadian Forces Snowbirds were out for a rip in The Land of Living Skies yesterday at the exact same time our Prime Minister was talking about our team in Ottawa.

He announced "Operation Inspiration".  "Starting this weekend in Nova Scotia," he said, "the Canadian Forces Snowbirds will head across Canada to salute Canadians doing their part to stop the spread of COVID-19."

The Snowbirds are on social media with the details - sharing some video and telling us they'll be targeting neighbourhoods and hospitals on their flypast tour of the country.

Thousands are reacting with support but not all are in favour.

One guy on Twitter says "This is a terrible waste of public funds during a pandemic...unless you're shooting COVID-19 out of the sky, stay on the ground."

Another writes, "C'mon (Liberal Party), you need to rethink this salute.  Keep it virtual."

And then, a man with the Twitter handle "Canada Keith" chimes in with, "Can you switch to red smoke?"

I don't know about you, but I'm with Canada Keith.  Smoke on, baby.
