A local-area businessman took to Twitter yesterday with this, "I had a customer text me before 5 o'clock this morning then call when I didn't answer the text.  We had a polite but frank conversation about boundaries.  Don't do this."

Oh, I get that.  We early risers know all about the late-night texting and phone calls.

It takes me back to my childhood when all we had was the landline telephone.  Every once in a while, the phone would ring at 11:30 at night.  Everybody in the house would have their deep sleep disturbed and my dad would hustle to the phone and answer with a somewhat angry sounding "HELLO".

It was his sister, my aunt Betty, calling to have a chat.

She'd say, "George, what are you doing?"

He'd say, "Sleeping, Betty.  We're all trying to sleep."

And she'd say, "Well, were you not watching the national news?"

She just couldn't understand why the whole family wasn't gathered in the living room to watch the CTV National News at 11:00.

Like the guy said, "Don't do this."
