Wakamow Valley will be shining bright to bring Christmas joy throughout December.

Using power from the campground, over 100,000 LED Christmas lights have been strung over a one-kilometre stretch in the valley.

“We have over 90 trees done so far and some of the whole gamut down there,” said Wakamow Valley Authority General Manager Todd Johnson.

“So spruce, evergreen and any of the other trees that we can cover, bushes, pretty much if it's standing there, we're going to put lights on it.”

The lights will be going on from Dec. 6 to 31 from 5 to 9 p.m. each night.

Admission is a $10 per vehicle donation that goes towards the valley.

Johnson hopes that this event will bring some Christmas cheer to residents.

“We're just hoping that everyone comes out and supports the valley and has a great Christmas time because everyone deserves it,” Johnson said.

“It's been a stressful time and this is a good way to come out and enjoy the outdoors. We've got the skating rink there as well. So come for a tour and then go for a skate at the Oval.”

The event is still looking for sponsors. Any businesses that are interested in sponsoring the event can contact Johnson at the Wakamow Valley Authority office.
