Local favourites will be making an appearance at the 5th Annual Highway to Heroes Car Show. 15 Wing's Canadian Armed Forces Snowbirds will be hitting the skies with their air demonstrations this year.

With a concert, air show, and cars displayed throughout the base, it's gearing up to be an exciting year for the annual event.

Flying with the Snowbirds will be Captain Sarah Dallaire, who is currently the only female Snowbird pilot and is excited to be performing in Moose Jaw.

"When we started in Moose Jaw on the beginning of our seasons, always the first show that we go to and we do and for me, especially this year, it was definitely the cherry on top of the cake because Maryse Carmichael was present and watching me perform my first real show," Captain Dallaire said. "She was the first female Snowbird pilot and I was inspired by her."

Captain Dallaire was 12 years old when she first saw Carmichael perform, and said that was the day that a fire was started in her heart to become a Snowbird.

It all kicks off this Sunday at 11 am when the general public is allowed to enter the base, music will begin at 11:30 am, and the air-display at 2 pm.

"Coming back to Moose Jaw, I'm really excited and my neighbours I know will be there and I totally love them, I love the community of Moose Jaw so I'm really excited."

The Snowbirds will be performing alongside the Canadian Armed Forces Skyhawks this Sunday, you can visit the Highway to Heroes Car Show Facebook page for more event details.
