The calculations are out and minimum wage will go up by 24 cents an hour this fall.  The provincial government made the announcement this morning saying the change will come into affect October 1st.

The move was based on Legislation that allows for an annual review of minimum wage based on the consumer price index. The legislation states that any changes must be announced by the end of June.

What it means is that the nearly 50,000 minimum wage earners in the province will start making $10.96 per hour in the fall.
