With points in six straight games, the Moose Jaw Warriors have kept their foot down on the gas this week in practice in a hope of keeping the good times rolling.

"All four lines are working hard, our D is playing solid defence and we’re sticking to our game plan throughout these games," said 20-year-old forward Tristin Langan. "We’re coming in ready, making sure we play a full 60 and it’s working out for us so far."

The Warriors will host the Calgary Hitmen on Friday night for their first meeting of the season.

Moose Jaw has been surprising many with their start, while Calgary’s start has been the opposite as they sit at 2-6-2 through 10 games. The Hitmen are coming into Friday’s game off a 5-4 overtime win in Saskatoon on Wednesday.

The Warriors aren’t too worried about what the opposition is doing right now, instead focusing on putting together their best game, which means playing with speed, something that Moose Jaw works on constantly in practice.

"If you don’t practice fast, it’s not going to translate it to a game, so it’s very important and so far we’ve been pretty good with it," said second-year defenceman Matthew Benson.

"Everybody has been clicking, it’s been a fast-paced week in practice and we’re looking forward to the weekend."

Last weekend saw the secondary scoring come through for the Warriors, but they’ve been led by their top players for much of the first eight games.

Langan has been a key part of any success for Moose Jaw this season as he leads the team with seven goals and 16 points in eight games.

"It’s nice to be getting these points, it’s definitely nice playing with [Justin Almeida], [Brayden Tracey] and [Ryan] Peckford, but I’m just focused on getting the wins and having a good season," said Langan.

"It’s team success over personal success, but it’s good getting the personal success too."

The Warriors will also meet up with their rival Regina Pats on Saturday in the Queen City.

Puck drops on Friday night at 7 p.m. The Pre-Game Show is on the air at 6:40 p.m. on Country 100.

Brook Suspended for Friday’s Game

The Moose Jaw Warriors will be without Captain Josh Brook for Friday’s game against the Calgary Hitmen.

Brook received a one-game suspension for his checking from behind major and game misconduct last Saturday, stemming from a hit on Chiefs forward Ethan McIndoe.

Brook, who has four goals and 11 points in seven games this season, will be eligible to return on Saturday in Regina.

Wood Leaves Warriors

Forward Brecon Wood is no longer with the Moose Jaw Warriors, the team announced via social media on Friday.

Wood will be joining the Spruce Grove Saints in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

The 2000-born forward was in his third season with the Warriors, he posted five goals and seven points in 91 career games, including one goal in seven games this season.

Warriors to Unveil Third Jersey

Since the 2011-12 season, the Moose Jaw Warriors have sported one-off special edition jerseys, but they haven’t had a full-time third jersey.

That changes on Friday night when the WHL squad will be sporting new red third jerseys against the Hitmen.

The Warriors have been teasing the new threads on social media throughout the week.
