It's one of the most important jobs, and is the foundation of our future leaders.

World Teachers Day is here and its purpose is to recognize all the hard working individuals in our society that take care of guiding and teaching our youth from kindergarten all the way to university.

Scott Wicker is a teacher at Central Collegiate, he details how teaching has evolved since he started his career 8 years ago.

"I think teaching has changed in terms of being much more student centered where students are more responsible for their own learning. Also I think it's changed in terms of working with students on maintaining their mental health."

Wicker added that his favorite part of teaching is the variety, and also working with the amazing students and staff. Wicker detailed his opinion on World Teachers Day.

"I think that education is one of the most important aspects of our lives and I think it's important for people to understand how hard teachers work to provide for the children in the community. A lot of teachers dedicate their life to it and it's nice to have some recognition for it that's for sure."

Wicker also stated that he became a teacher because he loved learning himself and wanted to share his learning with others, its all part of the life long learning goal that education strives for.
