Expect the door knocking to pick up over the course of the next four weeks.  The election campaign is now officially underway in Saskatchewan.

Although it could be argued that the campaigning started over a month ago, Premier Brad Wall officially launch the election Monday when he made the visit to the Lieutenant Governor's office to dissolve the Legislature.  The Saskatchewan Party is attempting to remain in office after taking over from the NDP in 2007.

"I think the people of Saskatchewan will be faced with a clear choice." said Wall after the campaign got underway. "Do we want to keep Saskatchewan moving forward from a position of strength, seizing our opportunities, facing our challenges in a position of leadership in our country or do we want to risk turning back to the past."

That theme of moving forward or returning to the past has been an ongoing theme in Wall's speeches over the last few weeks.  At rallies, media events and during interviews he's focused on his party's track record since being elected in 2007 saying Saskatchewan has never been stronger than our province is right now.

We start the campaign in Moose Jaw with eight candidates on the list but it's more like six.  While the Green Party does have a candidate for each riding, Leader Victor Lau has admitted they are more like paper candidates, or place holders for the party and will not likely have a strong presence during the Moose Jaw campaign since they are actually from Regina.

In the North, voters can choose from Danny Robilliard for the Green Party, Derek Hassen for the NDP, PC Leader Rick Swenson and Saskatchewan Party Incumbent Warren Michelson.

In Wakamow, the Green candidate is Deanna Robilliard, Tom Steen for the PC Party, Saskatchewan Party candidate Greg Lawrence and NDP Incumbent Deb Higgins.

After a week of phone calls, there has been no word from the Liberal Party about local candidates. In fact, the only candidate on their website is leader Ryan Bater in the North Battleford riding.
