Canada's Minister for Public Safety and Saskatchewan Liberal MP for Regina - Wascana Ralph Goodale said right-wing, white supremacists and neo-Nazi groups are an increasing concern and a threat to Canadians.

Goodale's remarks came Tuesday after a speech on national security at the University of Regina.

Goodale referenced the April 2018 van attack on Toronto's Yonge Street, which killed ten people, and the murder of six people inside a Quebec mosque in 2017, saying that the suspects were inspired by what they saw on the Internet.

According to Goodale, Daesh and al-Qaida aren't the only sources of extremist violence. He said it can come from any sort of fanaticism.

The Minister said the federal government is working with Internet providers to eradicate the problem.

He said they've received "pretty decent co-operation" and that Internet providers have an obligation to ensure they do not provide a platform for spreading hate and fear.
