The village of Marquis, population around 100, has seen a number of younger people moving in to raise their families in peace and quiet in recent years.  It's not difficult to find things to do in the summertime BUT come winter, it's a different story.  The old rink and curling rink facility has fallen into disrepair in recent years due to some water leaks and a number of other factors.  So, the folks in Marquis joined 800 CHAB's Great 8 contest, hoping to win the $5000.00 in cash funding from Great 8 sponsor Hawk's Agro.  You can see more about the project and cast your vote HERE

And, you can listen to local resident Victoria Croker and Marquis mayor Ken Marcyniuk talk to CHAB's Rob Carnie about their plan to get some repair work done and, hopefully, open up the curling rink again this winter.
