I like pencils.  I always have.  I don't know why.  I just do.

I do most of my writing on the computer keyboard but I still take notes and I schedule my appointments in an old school day timer.  I do those things with pencils.

My parents grew up in the Dirty Thirties.  They taught me the value of things and to look after my possessions.  I've always kept my pencils sharp and I've always used them until they get too small to function.  I've had the same pencil sharpener since elementary school.

I was down to one pencil this past weekend so I thought I'd pick up a new one.  I went to one of the "dollar" stores.

Did you know you can buy a dozen, pre-sharpened pencils for $1.50?  Did you know you can buy THREE pencil sharpeners in one package for, wait for it, $1.50?  I had no idea.  I was so happy.

Still, I was hesitant to toss that old pencil sharpener in the trash can.  I'll get over it.  Don't worry about me.
