He passed away Tuesday at the age of 89 in Vernon, BC.  He owned and operated driving schools before he got into the restaurant business in Winnipeg.

It was back in 1964, 54 years ago, he began to create what would be his life's legacy.

It started when one of his customers told him about a dish he liked at another place.  They called it a panzerotti, a delicious little pastry pocket filled with sauce and cheese.

He went down the street and tried it but he didn't really like it.  He thought maybe he could create something similar but improve on it.

That he did.  He made the crust thinner and added some spices, pepperoni and mushrooms.  People in and around Winnipeg couldn't get enough of 'em.  Others invested and they made those tasty turnovers as fast as they could.

Eventually, Pillsbury bought them out and they sell millions of them.  You might have some in your freezer right now.

Paul Faraci is the 89 year old man who passed away Tuesday.  He invented the Pizza Pop.
