Hockey rinks in Moose Jaw will be busy again this weekend as Epic Hockey gets set to host its 2019 Ice Melt Tournament.

This is the inaugural year for the tournament.

"We've got 20 teams coming in from all over the province and it's going to be good," said Epic Hockey coach Trevor Weisgerber.

The tournament will feature spring hockey teams from around Saskatchewan competing across four divisions.

"We have two 2010 age groups, a gold and a silver, then we have a 2009 and 2006, so we've had a great turnout," said Weisgerber, who added that they had to turn away teams due to limited ice space.

"It's our first year and we've got a good turnout, so it's great," he said.

The tournament opens on Friday at 10 a.m. with games happening at Mosaic Place, the Red Knight Arena and Caronport's Barkman Arena. Click here for the full schedule.
