Moose Jaw Generals alum Jared Dmytriw had a special day on Thursday.

The Vancouver Giants captain scored for his team as they advanced into the Western Conference Final with a 6-1 win over the Victoria Royals, sweeping their rivals in four games.

Dmytriw was also named as the Western Conference nominee for the WHL Humanitarian of the Year award. The Craven product was thoroughly involved in the community during his final season in the WHL. (Click here for more details from WHL.ca.)

Dmytriw posted 15 goals and 38 points in 65 games this season with the Giants.

Vancouver will await the winner of the series between the Everett Silvertips and Spokane Chiefs. Spokane has a 3-0 series lead heading into Game 4 on Friday night.

Over in the Eastern Conference, the Edmonton Oil Kings have booked their ticket to the conference final after sweeping the Calgary Hitmen. The Prince Albert Raiders will host the Saskatoon Blades on Friday for Game 5 of their second-round series, which is tied at 2-2.
