It was 17 years ago in 2007 that we in Saskatchewan were about to enjoy some good times and we knew it.

The economy was gaining momentum, the real estate market was taking off and we elected a Saskatchewan Party government under the leadership of, perhaps, one of the most dynamic politicians in our history, Brad Wall.

Fast forward to 2024, a provincial election year, and the Saskatchewan Party government is facing some serious challenges and they include struggles with two, key areas - health care and education.

The opposition NDP is calling for health care reform and a new contract for Saskatchewan teachers. They have a lot of support.

Polling, released last month was proof. The Insightrix poll found 49% of Saskatchewan's decided voters would vote for the NDP with 47% supporting the Saskatchewan Party.

The provincial election campaign is months away from officially beginning but, for all intents and purposes, it's already underway.

The spring session of the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly will be most interesting and entertaining and, perhaps, one of the most significant sessions in our history.
