We were talking about an old steam engine this morning. It was built in 1930 and has now been restored. CPKC will celebrate its first anniversary since their merger by showcasing that steam engine on a trip from Calgary though Moose Jaw then down to the USA, finishing the trip in Mexico City.

It got me thinking about riding trains. I've never been on a trip on a train although I have jumped on the CTrain in Calgary and I've been on the subway system in New York City.

It strikes me that with all the pressure to move to electric vehicles in North America, perhaps we could be riding more trains in the future. Perhaps electric trains could be a part of our future. It's happening all over the world. We just haven't kept up.

You know, if we had high-speed, electric trains, I'd probably travel more than I do.

Think about it. We could jump on a train and travel in comfort, without the worries of the dangers on the highways.

We could eat and drink and socialize and do our part to save the world from fossil fuels.

Am I on the right track?
