I wondered about the timing.  I knew I had to ask my friend Scott Thomas if he'd come on CHAB to talk about losing his son in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash.  I waited until Wednesday to ask.  He obliged and as we finished our visit on the radio, he thanked me, thanked us, for the opportunity to tell his boy's story.

Thomas also talked about Evan's service on Monday at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon.  He says it's going to be "a wonderful event".

He also said "It's gonna be tragic, it's gonna be heart-wrenching, it's gonna be brutally honest but, in the end", he said, "I hope there will be a message of inspiration and love because that's the kind of kid Evan was.  He was the kind of kid that made everyone around him a better person...Our goal is to have every person feel a little bit better about themselves when they leave there."

It's remarkable that a man who just lost his boy is forging ahead with such strength and dignity.  That's what leaders do.
