Warmer than normal weather has forced the province to push back its winter weight allowances on secondary highways again.

Earlier this month the Ministry of Highways announced that winter weight allowances wouldn't come into effect until at least Dec. 1 due to the warm weather.

Today, the province said it's now pushing the date back to Dec. 15 in hopes of preventing damage to the roads.

The Ministry says cold temperatures freeze and strengthen roads, allowing them to handle more weight in the winter.
