One of the groups hit hard in this pandemic are current students and recent graduates of either university or college. Recently the government announced a $9 billion plan to support them.

The Canada Emergency Student Benefit will provide $1,250 per month for eligible students from May through August 2020, and $1,750 for students with dependents and those with permanent disabilities.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gave his daily address this morning, he added more about the Canada Student Service Grant.

"Students helping in the fight against COVID-19 this summer will soon be eligible for $1000 to $5000 through the new Canada Student Service Grant for volunteer hours. We are also going to be providing specific support for First Nations, Inuit, and Metis Nations students."

The Canada emergency Student Benefit is expected to be passed today but resistance is expected from the conservatives as they seek changes to the bill.

Trudeau also commented on the updated data and modelling released yesterday.

"Yesterday Minister Hajdu and Dr. Tam provided an update on our latest modeling and the good news is that Canadians are stepping up to keep each other safe. In fact, in many parts of the country the curve has flattened so we have to keep it up."

Trudeau also added that the Canadian Forces Snowbirds will be making a trip across Canada flying over cities and towns in support of healthcare workers. The Snowbirds will start in Nova Scotia this weekend.
