With kids back to school it may have taken some drivers a little while to get back into the groove of watching for the little ones on the road but so far, this school year has been a safe one.

But for some communities, 40km per hour is still too fast. Saskatoon has dropped school zones to 30 and it's something Moose Jaw Police Sergeant Kevin Pilsworth is following.

"On one hand, it is important to do a regular assessment and we do, but it's equally important to monitor those (areas) and do the enforcement side." said Pilsworth. "We don't have any information or evidence, at this point, that is leaning us to having to make the shift to 30 but that doesn't mean it might not happen in the future."

Pilsworth believes local drivers are taking ownership of school zone safety and know it's up to them to make sure they pay attention around schools and playgrounds. He also tips his cap to the many schools that have safety patrols and educational programs to make sure drivers are being safe around schools and playgrounds.
