If you did some travelling this summer around the province then you likely saw the carloads of people and trailers being moved to our local parks.

2015 saw a huge increase in the number of visitors to our parks, setting a new record according to Assistant Manager of Communications Karen Webb.

"We had about 3.9 million visits to our parks this summer. It's is an increase of 3.4% over last year."

Buffalo Pound was one of the parks that benefited from recent upgrades and it showed in the local attendance numbers with about 200,000 visit this summer or more than 30,000 more than last year.

Webb says more and more funding is being provided to the parks system to upgrade campsites and recreation areas, creating a bigger and better draw for families.
