The September job market shows the unemployment rate going down in Saskatchewan and Canada.

Numbers from Statistics Canada show that in the province, 575,300 were employed in this past September, up 3,300 compared to last year, and up 1,800 compared to last month seasonally adjusted. Also since last year, there are 1,000 new full-time jobs and 2,300 new part-time jobs.

Other highlights from the last month show year-over-year job gains with education moving up 4,900, accommodation and food services up 2,800, health-care and social assistance moved up 2,000, and agriculture 2,500.

Also, there were 1,900 more jobs filled by female employment since last year. Aboriginal employment also went up, with 200 more youth jobs and 100 more off-reserve jobs.

Canada-wide, there were 63,000 more jobs in September, which pushed the employment down to 5.9%

Saskatchewan's unemployment rate, seasonally adjusted, sits at 6.4% for September 2018, down 0.3% from last month.
