Although it will not be fully open to traffic until Tuesday, the largest infrastructure project in our province's history is now officially complete.  On Monday morning, in lieu of a ribbon-cutting, barricades were removed at the ceremony that officially opened the new Regina Bypass.

Premier Scott Moe said, "This is a very, very good day for the people in our province of Saskatchewan".  In fact, Moe was one of the first people to drive on a section of the road that was used for the opening - with the Premier behind the wheel of a semi.  The bypass will be fully open to drivers on Tuesday night once crews remove the remaining barricades.

The bypass is expected to improve the movement of large truck traffic and increase safety around the Queen City.  Drivers traveling east or west on the Trans-Canada highway can now go around Regina, rather than through it.

The Sask Party government estimates that annual savings from decreased accidents and property damage will be in the area of 2 to 3 million dollars.
