"Safety is of the utmost importance." That's the slogan for the RCMP while they tend to festival goers at Country Thunder Saskatchewan 2019.

The officers sent out a list of tips for anyone who reaches out to them this weekend while in the Craven Valley, stating that they can be contacted at 310-RCMP. However, if it's a life-threatening situation, they urge people to call 911.

  • Your location – be as specific as possible.
  • Your contact information – whether it is your cell phone or a friend's, they need a number to contact you back.
  • Stay on the phone with the call-taker until they have all the information that police need.
  • As cell phone coverage is inconsistent if you are able to make a call to police for assistance, stay exactly where you are as officers may need to call you back.
  • A meet-up location (if necessary) – by the main stage doesn’t work, try to find a different location that isn’t so busy.
  • As many details as possible – the more information, the better.

They also added that if someone you know was taken by officers off of the premises and you would like to know when they'll be released, you'll need to call the Lumsden RCMP detachment and someone will return your call with the details.

The first update by RCMP came in at 10 am on Thursday morning stating that they expect to see roughly 20,000 people make their way through the Country Thunder gates on Thursday and that the public has been very easy to deal with thus far.

The only thing they reported were three male individuals were taken into custody and moved to the Lumsden detachment after causing a disturbance and being intoxicated in public.

During the festival weekend, officers will be conducting a "zero tolerance" policy in regards to public drunkenness, open liquor, underage drinking, illicit drug use, causing a disturbance, and any other offence as they hope to keep everyone including staff, volunteers, attendees and other officers safe.
