The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) has lifted the provincial fire ban as of Monday morning due to recent rainfall and cooler weather settling in.

The ban had come into place on July 2 and applied to all Crown lands, provincial parks, and the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District.

A few municipalities and RM's however, including the RM of Caron and RM and Marquis, still have fire bans in effect.

According to the press release from the SPSA; "Some municipalities continue to experience a high fire risk and may choose to keep their fire bans in place.  The SPSA continues to encourage all municipalities to examine the fire risk in their local area and reminds the public to practice fire safety."

We have received reports that as of Monday afternoon a fire ban was still in effect at Buffalo Pound Provincial Park.
