Seat belts save lives.

That was the message from SGI, the Moose Jaw police Service and Moose Jaw and District EMS.

Corp. Brad Sukenik explains the idea behind the free car seat clinic Monday at Murray GM.

“Throughout the province, they have different agencies that will host these child car seat clinics,” said Sukenik. “It’s a free clinic for parents to bring down their vehicle, their child and their car seat, to get the car seats inspected.”

Moose Jaw and District EMS were also present.

Some of the things that can happen during an inspection will included Sukenik checking to make sure the seats weren't recalled at any point.

“Once all that is done, we’ll make sure they are installed correctly,” Sukenik said. “That they fit the child, for the age and weight of the child... (and) that all the belts are installed correctly. And it just comes down to safety for the child.”

Then he said they made sure the belts were installed correctly on the seats.

“SGI is pushing, along with all the other agencies, that seat belts save lives,” said Sukenik. “That includes car seats as well. So if they’re installed properly and the child is in the car seat, that saves lives.”
