On Saturday hope was rekindled during the 12th annual Journey to Hope Walk for Suicide Awareness and Prevention.

The ceremony took place in the chapel of W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home with the morning sunlight streaming in through the windows. Over 100 people attended the event to honour the memory of loved ones or to show support for the organization.

This has been an exciting year of expansion for Journey to Hope as they have branched out to Regina, as well as partnering with the high schools in Moose Jaw to create a youth chapter.

Testimonials were heard and lives honoured through various artistic displays and performances. Attendees could even take part in the construction of a mural with the names of their loved ones on it. The mural will be placed in a prominent part of the city in the coming weeks.

The amount raised in this year's various fundraisers came to an unofficial total of $21,881 dollars.

With groups from as far away as North Battleford and elsewhere approaching the organization on how to start their own chapters, Journey to Hope is sure to continue spreading its ripples of hope throughout the years to come. As spokesperson Della Ferguson put it;

"We will remember them and their light will shine on through us."
