Not the worst, but close to it.  Saskatchewan has the second highest average consumer debt amongst the provinces when mortgages are taken out of the equation; Alberta was number one.

Equifax Canada says the average adult in Saskatchewan has about $24,690 in non-mortgage debt, an increase of about 1.7% while the national average was just over $22,000.

Meanwhile, another report released this week says higher debt is eroding retirement savings. The Canadian Payroll Association nearly half of Canadians are living paycheque to paycheque and cannot property save for retirement or emergencies.
