If you know of a family literacy volunteer in your life, the Canada Premiers’ Council of the Federation Literacy Awards (COFLA) want to hear from you.

In a media release from the province, education minister Gordon Wyant said that COFLA will recognize the work that volunteers do to promote family literacy. The province recognizes a different category of people involved in literacy every two years, rotating with learners and leaders.

“Increasing literacy levels in Saskatchewan is a priority, the support of literacy volunteers provides a considerable resource for our province,” said Wyant.

The nominees promote literact with programming and awareness, as well as collaborative partnerships and education. They will have contributed significant knowledge, time and expertise to communities and organizations, and the winning recipient will be honoured at a ceremony at the provincial legislature in the fall.

The nomination deadline is June 14, 2019. Anyone wishing to nominate someone can go to www.saskatchewan.ca/government/heritage-honours-and-awards/council-of-the-federation-literacy-award.
