As Canada continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, local business owners and managers are struggling as well, looking for ways to survive in the new reality.

Health regulations have forced the closure of most retail storefronts, and although pick-up and delivery options remain available, most small businesses do not have a system of e-commerce set up to allow them to fully participate.

That is changing.

A new Moose Jaw website is now online called "BringMeBasics".  It's a place where local businesses can connect with consumers by facilitating the purchase of goods and services online.   The site allows buyers to order, pay for, and arrange delivery of the products, while maintaining proper social distancing protocols.  The service is free for businesses.

Rob Clark with the Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce sees this as a big break for local merchants.

"It's a great opportunity for them to sell their products online.  People are going to be looking so it has to be an absolute bonus to the businesses".
