It was supposed to come before Moose Jaw City Council for approval Monday night but instead, the plan to restrict parking in the area called The Avenues and require home owners to purchase parking permits, has been shelved for the time being. Councillors want to have more consultation with residents before implementing the plan.

The problem has been parking on the narrow streets.  Fire trucks and other emergency vehicles can't fit down the Avenues when there are cars parked on both sides. Compounding the problem has been the students of Sask Polytechnic parking in the neighbourhood, taking up even more room during the day.

So, administration has been directed to go back to the residents for more feedback on their plan of action.
