The Mosaic Community Food Farm has wrapped up harvest for the year, and although they were working with a significantly smaller staff than normal, they were able to grow an incredible amount of produce.

Wakamow Valley General Manager Todd Johnson.

"We're just in the final stages of closing up the garden, we've done all the harvest and the total that we have is 8,476 pounds of food that they've grown in the garden this year. That will all be going to four groups; Hunger Moose Jaw, Moose Jaw Food Bank, Riverside Mission, and the Moose Jaw Multicultural Council."

With health guidelines in place from the provincial government as well, they had to work with a significantly reduced staff over the summer.

"It's three staff who we have in there. We have our seasonal staff who come in too so at the very most on any given day we would have about five people in there. Normally it would be groups of 20 people harvesting. Compared to last year though, their harvest was 2,600 pounds more than 2019.

And with the weather getting a bit colder, winterization is now underway at Wakamow Valley. Public washrooms will be closed, and waterlines will be shut off. The valley is also hoping on doing some new, interesting things with the skating oval this year, with more details expected to be released at a later date.
