The Moose Jaw Kinettes Club held their annual general meeting on Tuesday night, prepping for the year – and weekend ahead.

This winter the Kinsmen and Kinettes will be teaming up to offer their Safe Ride program, where businesses or groups can hire them to provide safe rides home from gatherings or Christmas parties.

Deputy Governor of Zone G for the Kinettes, Tanya Heisler.

"We rent vans and we will drive people home at the end of the event for a donation. If you were holding the event you would hire us, its $300 per van, and we provide two drivers, so the extra service you get there is that we can also drive people's vehicles home for them. So we can give people a ride and drop off their vehicle at home in case they need it the next day."

All donations raised through the clubs fundraising efforts such as Safe Ride and their Bar-tending program, go right back into the community.

"There's a lot of donations towards – well you know the Kinsmen, of course, you see their name on lots of things, sports facilities, sports teams. Last year we sponsors a local boy who was going to Camp Easter Seal. We've also bought equipment for the Early Childhood Intervention Program, things of that nature."

This upcoming weekend is shaping out to be a busy one as well for not just the Kinettes, but the Kinsmen club too.

"The Moose Jaw Kinsmen and Kinettes are jointly hosting the Fall Leadership Conference for all Saskatchewan Kinsmen and Kinettes Clubs this weekend. We're just getting the final touches on that convention and we will be hosting it at the Heritage Inn for a weekend of fellowship and learning."
