Long-time local educator Delmer Wagner and his Holy Trinity Catholic School Board colleagues were on the road this weekend to North Battleford, where Mr. Wagner was elected to the position of President of the Saskatchewan Catholic School Boards Association.

Wagner has spent 35 years dedicating his life to education, with 27 of those years being in the Saskatchewan Catholic Education system.

"I retired in 2009 and I thought at that time I would be transitioning into full retirement mode, but that wasn't quite the case. I've come out of retirement a few times since then."

Wagner goes on to say that and the Saskatchewan Catholic School Board Association has a few challenges to face.

"We have struggled, as have all school divisions, to meet the challenges in providing for the needs of kids in our classrooms. I think it's primarily around wanting to keep funding levels at an appropriate level. We took a hit a few years ago, and they're gradually going back up."

Following the announcement, Wagner released the following statement;

"I'm excited to begin a new chapter in my career as a proponent of Catholic education. I have served as a teacher, principal, director and trustee. In my new role as President of the Saskatchewan Catholic School Boards Association, I look forward to the opportunity to work with my provincial trustee colleagues and Directors of Education in advancing the legacy that has existed in Saskatchewan since we became a province in 1905.”
