In just under 12 months, the 2020 Scotties Tournament of Hearts will be in Moose Jaw.

The local committee is now looking for volunteers to help the event run smoothly.

Volunteer Co-Chair Joe Gunnis said when we last hosted the event in 2015, it went off without a hitch.

"Our volunteers were top notch. It was one of the best overall attended Scotties ever, if not the best. Moose Jaw did it up right and again when we put in our bid it didn't take them long to look back here. It's the right place to be and it's going to be the right atmosphere for sure."

There is a $100 registration fee; however, Gunnis says there are some perks that come with signing up.

"Events of this magnitude don't go off without volunteers, and we wouldn't be as successful as we were without volunteers. There are some things that come along with that volunteer package. You're able to watch the games when you're not working, certainly you get a jacket and a few other things that people still wear to this day with pride."

Gunnis continues, saying it's not just material perks to signing up, but that it also comes with a great experience.

"It's a good time and for those of you that maybe are thinking about volunteering, it's a good group, we're all together. We do spend a whole lot of time together that week and you get to know people that maybe you didn't know before. If you haven't attended a curling event and the HeartStop Lounge and all those things that come along with it, you're truly missing out."
