A local group of veteran musicians has joined the band - The Shawn Adams Band.  They've been rehearsing this winter and preparing for shows in the spring.

Left to right, Jan Morrison (bass), Lennard Morin (drums), Shawn Adams (guitar/vocals), Mike Beaudry (lead guitar) and Doug Dixon (keys)

Shawn Adams, a member of the International Singer Songwriter Association (ISSA), had his song 'Please Remember Me' nominated for Gold Record of the Year.

Adams says he wrote the song while going through a dark time in his life.

"A little over 6 years ago I was diagnosed with frontal lobe dementia. It was a hard pill to swallow. I went home and picked up my guitar and started writing lyrics, put music to it the next day and 'Please Remember Me' came of it. It was more or less about hoping my family remembers me the way I was. It was recorded in Moose Jaw at Nebulus Entertainment with Jared Robinson, and since the video and song were released, I was told that doctors were wrong, and it turned out to be severe sleep apnea. I'm feeling 100% better these last 5 months or so."

The band now needs your help. Voting for Gold Record of the Year is open until the end of the month.

"You can head over to Shawn Adams Music Canada on Facebook, and Going For the Gold with Shawn Adams. We could use all the support we can get."

You can also visit issasongwriters.com/vote to show Shawn your support.

And while you show the band support, they will be showing their support for firefighters in Australia by helping with a fundraiser April 4 at the Heritage Inn, with all money going to Australia through the Regina Red Cross.
