The ongoing pandemic hasn't slowed down the number of impaired motorists caught in the province.

Police in Saskatchewan reported 369 impaired driving offences during the month of December; 288 of which led to Criminal Code charges.

"Strong enforcement is one of the reasons Saskatchewan has made real progress in changing the culture of impaired driving and reducing fatalities and injuries," said SGI's Tyler McMurchy in a press release, "Those who still choose to drive impaired are more likely than ever to be caught and face license suspensions, vehicle impoundments, and potential fines and/or jail time imposed by the courts."

That, along with 414 distracted driving tickets, 207 tickets for seatbelts and child restraint being used incorrectly or not at all, and 3,453 aggressive driving or speeding tickets were all handed out last month.

Impaired driving remains the number 1 cause of fatal collisions in the province.

SGI and law enforcement will focus on impaired driving again in February, May, September, and December of this year.
