With the holiday season already upon us, there is sure to be lots of food and junk food for all to enjoy. But for some families in Moose Jaw just getting by can be a struggle this time of year,

That's why the Moose Jaw Co-op, Hub Meats, and the Holy Trinity Catholic School Division have teamed up to address the needs of some of the less fortunate families in the school division.

Gerry Turcotte is a teacher with Holy Trinity,

"We got together as a community; the school division, Moose Jaw Coop and Hub Meats we all came together and what we did was we identified there was a need, and we were able to meet that gap to help families over this Christmas season and hopefully lessen the burden that this family can bring upon certain families."

The Moose Jaw Co-op donated a $500 gift card, and Hub Meats donated 15 hams.

Bryce Downy, Manager of Hub Meats says that they were happy to help.

"Gerry called me at work and explained what the plan was and how he was wondering if we could help out with making the hampers for people that need them. We were happy to help out with what we could, they asked for 15 hams so that's what we donated."

The $500 gift card provided by the Co-op made it possible to purchase another 15 hampers worth of food for families.

Manager of Marketing and Community Relations at the Moose Jaw Co-op, Michaela Turner.

"The Holy Trinity came to me with the request for a donation of some sort and of course we are always happy to help. These are students, these are families that the teachers of Holy Trinity see that maybe some of these families are having a tough year, falling through the cracks and need a little bit of extra help this holiday so we're just trying to make everyone's Christmas a little bit better. Nobody should struggle to have food in their pantry or should have to worry about that. We're happy to partner with them, we're always wanting to help our community and do what we can."
