On Wednesday morning the provincial government shared that they sent a large amount of projects to tender.

Officials say they're focusing on safety with 24 projects up for grabs by contractors throughout the prairies totaling roughly $65 million dollars.

“Safety is the most important priority on our provincial highway system,” Highways and Infrastructure Minister David Marit said in a statement.  “We are pleased with this year’s spring tender plan and the continuation of passing lane expansion throughout the province.”

70km of grading and paving, and 225km of highway maintenance work are included in the investment, including 9 bridges that will be replaces or rehabilitated, and 2 culverts being installed.

Currently there are 130 highway improvement projects underway in the province, with a total cost of $285 million dollars, some of which are combined with the tender schedule from 2017.
