Today would have been his 263rd birthday.

Every year on January 25th, the life and legacy of Robbie Burns is celebrated around the world. Burns was a poet and songwriter, writing over 600 pieces of work throughout his career.

Robert Burns Day or, as it's more commonly referred to, Robbie Burns Night is a time when the Scottish communities gather together to celebrate the author.

Robert Burns was born in 1759 and died on July 21st, 1796. He contributed greatly to the culture of Scottland through his poetry of love and nature and is still celebrated all around the world.

The pandemic forced celebrations to move online last year, however, this year Desperate for Haggis is excited to celebrate with the community at Bobby's Place Olde World Tavern.

"Come on and tilt a pint or two, have a taste of haggis and sing along to some good old tunes. We're there from 6-8. The usual COVID protocols apply... masks, proof of vaccinations and all that jazz," explained Desperate for Haggis member, Doug Shepherd.

Shepherd added that the event will be raising money for the Moose Jaw Humane Society.

For those who aren't able to attend, but still want to celebrate, watch the video below from the 2021 celebrations.
