The Moose Jaw Health Foundation announced their Cancer Care Raffle winners Tuesday morning, with the big winner a cancer survivor herself.

The Cancer Care Raffle was announced in May, with proceeds earmarked for a new ultrasound machine for the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional hospital that will aid in the early detection of cancer.

Moose Jaw's Myrna Blanchard battled breast cancer last year, saying "it was detected early in Moose Jaw, and I had a very successful surgery done, with followup treatment in Regina. Everything's good now."

Blanchard said she was "happy to support the Moose Jaw Health Foundation" by purchasing a raffle ticket, which included several "cash calendar" draws, plus a 50/50 jackpot.

The winners were announced Tuesday morning on 800 CHAB radio, with Blanchard's name being selected for the 50/50 prize of $11,815.

She was shocked when CHAB's Rob Carnie called her with the good news.

"I couldn't figure it out," she laughed. "I hadn't entered any (radio contests) so didn't know why CHAB would be calling me."

Blanchard says she "marched it right to the bank" and has no initial plans for her winnings.
