Hunters in Saskatchewan will be able to enter the big game draw when it opens Wednesday.

The provincial Ministry of the Environment advises applying early and using the online residency verification tool to avoid complications.

The draw is done through the Saskatchewan Hunting, Angling and Trapping License System, or HAL accounts.

The application process hasn’t changed since 2018. But all first-time applicants will be placed in a pool that will be joined by successfully drawn applicants in 2018. The ministry of the environment says that is an effort to reduce the number of applicants entering the Super A pool each year.

Hunters will have until midnight, May 25 to submit their applications. Results will be known in mid June, with the exception of pronghorns which won’t be available until mid July. Hunters are responsible for checking their own results and licences can be purchased through HAL accounts starting Aug. 1
