Their second win in four years has staff at the Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plant ending the week on a high note.  They won the Best of the West Taste Test that's part of the annual Western Canada Water Conference being held in Saskatoon

The water taste competition is between ten cities across three provinces and Buffalo Pound General Manager Ryan Johnson says this is a big deal for the plant serves Moose Jaw and Regina.

"If you remember the water in the 80's, we were basically, the laughing stock of North America when it came to having some of the worst tasting and smelling water of the time." said Johnson, adding that problem drove them to seek new equipment. "The two cities invested significantly in the granular activated carbon contacters."

Johnson says people still joke about our water smelling or looking odd at times, but he hopes a second win will dispel some of those myths. While it's a must to provide safe, clean water to residents, their goal is to exceed those benchmarks and meet customer demands which means good tasting, clear water.

Water tasting professionals judged the samples based on appearance, aroma, taste, aftertaste and mouthfeel.
