In the daily COVID-19 update from the provincial government Sunday afternoon, another 171 new cases of COVID-19 were reported, and 148 recoveries. There was also one death connected to COVID-19 reported – a person in the 80+ age group in the South East zone. The number of active cases increased to 1,430.

A significant amount of the new cases were in Saskatoon, where 70 new cases were reported. Another 19 cases were reported in the Regina zone, 17 in the South East and North Central zones, 12 in the North West zone, 10 in the South Central zone, seven in the Far North West zone, six in the Central East zone, four in the South West zone, three in the North East and Central West zone and two in the Far North East zone. Another case is pending residence information.

Currently, there are 109 people who are in hospital receiving treatment for COVID-19. Of those, 25 are in intensive care.

Across the province, another 11,061 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered, bringing the total number in Saskatchewan up to 717,609. With the increase, 66 percent of all those in Saskatchewan over the age of 18 have received their first dose.

Sunday marked the start of Step 1 of the porvince’s Re-Opening Roadmap, with Step 2 slated to start on June 20th. Based on the criteria (70 percent of those over 18 being vaccinated), Step 3 will likely start on July 11th.
