Less than 24 hours after a train derailment roughly 10 kilometers west of Swift Current on Tuesday night, the area has been cleaned up enough for the railway to be reopened.

Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) crews from Medicine Hat and Maple Creek along with numerous first responders managed to get the track up and running again after 14 train cars came off of the track.

According to CPR, traffic is also being allowed through the area of the derailment again.

No update has been provided on how much clean up is left and the cause is still under investigation.
