Fewer people are travelling. That's in the latest finding from Stats Canada on tourism spending. The numbers show a 1.3 per cent decline this quarter, making this the third quarter in a row where spending has been down.

Locally, Tourism Moose Jaw Executive Director Candis Kirkpatrick says so far the number of visitors has been average, "We still seem to be getting a lot of people from not just neighboring provinces but just our average number of people from the States, which has never been huge.  But, certainly we're still seening people coming up from the States, perhaps other countries is where we are seeing a bit of a decline."

Kirkpatrick says only time will tell, "End of July will really be the proof in the pudding for us, to be able to tell whether or not our summer is going to pan out certainly the way we hoping it is for us."

Kirkpatrick says on the positive side, more people will be spending dollars at home rather than travelling out of province.
