The Sukanen Ship Pioneer Village and Museum will not be opening for the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a message on their website, the board of directors said the decision was to protect staff and visitors as it would be impossible to sanitize everything touchable at the museum.

They also cited the limited number of visitors expected would not generate enough money to pay staff.

The statement said the museum will have no income as all of their major fundraisers have been cancelled, but they expect to survive the setback and reopen in 2021.
