There is a plan and it was coming together but it's on the back burner now.

Saskatchewan Polytechnic people first told us about it in 2011.  They were talking about building a nice, new students' residence on the land adjacent to the campus along MacDonald Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues.

Moose Jaw North MLA Warren Michelson tells us that getting that residence built will be a priority of his in the new year.  I think it's a great idea.

It's interesting to note, there is no housing shortage right now.  There are 54 houses, apartments and suites for rent today on DiscoverMooseJaw.com and a number of them are in that Sask Polytech neighbourhood.  However, I believe offering students affordable housing on-campus would make the school more attractive and, perhaps, bring more people to our city. It could lead to program expansion - progress, they call it.

So, we have the land, we have the school and we're hearing the provincial economy is moving in the right direction and, it's also interesting to note, Saskatchewan Polytechnic's slogan is "Tomorrow in the Making".
