They're playing on the world stage but a number of local people have personal connections to some of them.

Local hockey fans are pulling for their players in the Stanley Cup playoffs.  "Their" players are some of the boys who once suited up for our Moose Jaw Warriors.

So many will be disappointed that Brayden Point and his Tampa Bay Lightning got knocked out of the playoffs by Columbus last night.

Others will continue to cheer for Morgan Rielly of the Maple Leafs, Deryk Engelland from the Golden Knights, Travis Hamonic in Calgary, Joel Edmundson with the Blues and veteran Johnny Boychuk from the Islanders.

It's interesting to note, one local hockey fan went down to New York for games one and two of the Islanders / Pittsburgh series.  Johnny's a good friend of his.  And, when he was there, he hooked up for a visit with Moose Jaw's own Clark Gillies - the four time Stanley Cup champion who played for the Islanders.

That's hockey!
