It's all tied up at one win apiece going into game 3.

Not only did Denton Mateychuk score the winning goal but he assisted on 5 others as the Moose Jaw Warriors beat Swift Current 7-2 Saturday night, evening the 2nd round, Western Hockey League playoff series at one win each.


The Broncos took game 1 by the same 7-2 score Friday night.

Games 3 and 4 are in Swift Current tomorrow and Wednesday night.

Saskatoon Blades needed overtime to beat Red Deer 2-1 last night. The Blades with 2-0 lead in that series.

The Moose Jaw Koseikan Judo Club took home the provincial trophy at the Saskatchewan Judo Provincial Championships, with 282 points. Moose Jaw will see seven athletes and two coaches attend the National Championships in Montreal this May.

Moose Jaw Koseikan member Raylynn Maerz got 1st place in the U12/U14 Female +63 kg category and in Ne-Waza U14 Female Pool C.

Aayla Lee-Neuman was in 1st place for U12/U14 Female -32 kg.

Oleksandr Kornat placed first in U14 Male -55 kg and Ne-Waza U14 Male Pool B.

Jesse Reynaud was first in U14 Male +66 kg and Ne-Waza U14 Male Pool E. 

Emmett Lee-Neuman got first in U16 Male -50 kg.

Felix Leonard picked up 1st place in U16 Male -46 kg and Ne-Waza U16 Male Pool A.

Avery Gibney was 1st in U18/Senior Women -57 kg.

Olesia Dunn placed first in Ne-Waza U16 Female Pool A.

 

Over to the IIHF Women's World Championship, Canada took home gold, beating the United States 6-5 in overtime.

Yesterday in the NHL, it was the Calgary Flames over the Arizona Coyotes, 6-5.

In the NBA, the Toronto Raptors fell 118-103 to the Miami Heat. Playoffs start later this week. The Raptors did not qualify.

Major League Baseball yesterday saw the Toronto Blue Jays win 5-0 against the Colorado Rockies.
